Hotel Limmathof, Zurich, Switzerland

Hotel Review

Date of last stay: 11/23/25 – 11/26/25

Room type: Double Room

Per night average: $281 USD (included breakfast)

Overall rating (out of 5): ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Cleanliness (out of 5): ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Upkeep: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Food: The included breakfast was lovely! Lots of breads and croissants, fresh fruit, musli (granola), coffee and juice. The coffee bar in the lobby was horrid – a canister of instant coffee with no instructions on the proper proportions. There is a restaurant on site, but upon arrival at the hotel at 7:30pm, we found a sign on the door saying they were closing at 5:30pm all week.

Service (out of 5): ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Staff was very nice, but no bell services available.

Airport transfers? No

Michelle’s Notes: So… Let me preface this with, upon arrival we had completed a 10-hour red-eye to Helsinki, a 6-hour layover and a 3-hour flight to Zurich. But when we arrived, we got out of the cab and headed up to the door to find there were 16 steps up to get to the lobby – or you could go around the block to the back entrance, where there would be 6 steps down to get to the lobby. And no bell services offered at this hotel. We chose to walk around the block, got checked in (and received a real key!!), and loaded onto the elevator, which almost didn’t close because it was so small and we were packed in.

The room was clean, spacious and warm with an amazing view of the river and train station. However, there were foot stools provided as bedside tables, no closet (two hooks with a hanger each), a bookshelf (no drawers anywhere). The tub had a huge step up and we had to remove the drain stopper completely to get any drainage.

This is an older hotel with limits to structural changes that can be made, and had we not been exhausted probably would have seen its charm a little earlier. However for us, those were big issues, and while it is in a great location and our room had a lovely view, I’m not sure I’d return.
