Waterfalls, Puffins, and Fjords! Second Sea Day

Wednesday, June 10, 2026

This morning we woke early after a good night’s sleep. At some point the ship started noticeably rocking, which helps us both sleep better. After breakfast at the buffet (the only place open that early), we went to the Crow’s Nest for a fancy coffee drink. Even at 8:30am, we couldn’t get a front row seat. Thankfully, all the seats can enjoy the view. And, for those interested, they have a super fancy telescope available.

Shortly after 9, Mom suggested I should head next door to the Game Room for Arts and Crafts. Anna from UK led a water coloring class and we learned to paint tulips! I was glad Mom sent me in early. The class did not start until 9:30 and I got one of the last seats. We watched at least 20 people be turned away because there weren’t enough supplies. The class would be held twice more this morning, hopefully they made it into one of the later classes.

I love these pictures in the hallway of deck one. (Sorry for the glare!)

Mom and I met back up afterwards the class and spent some time in the casino. I had a very good time!

Lunch today was at the Pinnacle Steakhouse. We were given a table by a porthole and had a nice meal. Mom started with crab cakes and I had the table side Caesar salad. Our server rolled a cart over and built my salad to order: How many leaves of Romaine would you like? Would you like light or medium dressing on your salad? Would you like 2 or 3 croutons? (I did decline the anchovies, though.) We both chose the filet with a baked potato, but I had the green peppercorn sauce and Mom chose Bernaise. Mom’s Creme Brûlée came with a wonderful almond brittle and my Key Lime Pie had a fantastic graham cracker crust.

After lunch, we decided to go back and see if our luck was holding in the casino – and while mine was ok, Mom started winning! After a while, we decided to get the game bag and hope we could find a place in the Crow’s Nest. On the way back, I stepped outside to take pictures of the Faroe Islands in the distance. It was COLD!!

The last arts and crafts activity for the day was cleaning up, so the room was open and we settled in. I was surprised at the people watching in the room. We were only there for a couple hours, but several different groups wandered in and out.

Around 7:30, we decided to have dinner at the buffet before heading down to call it an evening. Today was the last sea day of the cruise – from here on out it’s all Iceland, all the time!
